Biography

Erica Kinias specializes in the history of monastic architecture in Western Europe, particularly female monasticism in the 13th through 15th centuries. She received her B.A. from Arizona State University in History and Comparative Religious Studies and an M.A. in Museum Studies from the University College London's Institute of Archaeology, where she studied the English country house in post-World War II Britain. Before coming to Brown, Kinias worked as curator for Chiddingstone Castle, U.K., and as director of the Telluride Historical Museum in Colorado.
