The John Carter Brown Library is not normally thought of as a repository of materials related to East Asia, but there are some. A recent online exhibit on America and the China Trades 1750-1850 identifies some of the connections between the JCB's holdings and the questions that are of interest to scholars of East Asia. Others may be found in works depicting early Portuguese encounters with East Asia, as in this online exhibit.
