There are both Brown-specific scholarships/fellowships and a longer list of national and international awards that will be of interest to students whose language-training or research focuses on East Asia. These include but are by no means limited to:
- Boren Scholarships
- Critical Language Scholarships
- the Fulbright Program
- Gilman International Scholarships
A much longer list of fellowships and scholarships of use to undergraduates can be found on the Dean of the College's [email protected] page.
The Department of East Asian Studies both maintains its own useful list of external funding sources, and provides limited funding both for students admitted to summer language programs in China and to those with research projects or internships that require them to spend extended periods of time in China during the summer months. More information on those programs, including the Arun Stewart '11 Memorial Fund, can be found here. Applications deadlines are usually at the very end of the fall semester or early in the spring.
