Applied Research Methods for Economists
ECON 1629 S01 [CRN: 15777]This class will cover the basics of applied research in economics. We will cover how we use economic theory to formulate a hypothesis to test and how we use data to test our hypothesis. As part of the coursework, students will be exposed to topics across multiple fields of applied economic research (eg, health, labor, political economy, urban economics, development, etc) that can be explored in greater detail in more advanced classes.
Students will read and discuss papers published in professional journals and perform data analysis as part of the course requirements. Prerequisites: (ECON 1110 or 1130); and (ECON 1620 or 1630 or APMA 1650).
