Prof. Wong's Research Cited in Education Debate

March 13, 2017

Should school boards be appointed or elected?

This national debate is playing out in two of Nevada's largest school districts, and a 2013 study co-authored by Brown University Professor in Education Policy Kenneth Wong has come into the picture. Dr. Wong's research had found that school boards appointed by mayors showed improvement over a decade due to mayoral accountability, and the Las Vegas Review Journal contacted him for comment about the current debate in the Clark County and Washoe County school districts. See the article with Dr. Wong's statement here.
