Engineering Seminar: Biomedical Engineering

Thursday, September 21, 2017 3:00pm - 4:00pm

Louis E. DeFrate, the Frank H. Bassett III, M.D. Associate Professor of Orthoopaedics at Duke University will present a talk: "Application of Imaging Techniques to the Study of In Vivo Knee Health and Function." Abstract: Mechanical loading plays an important role in maintaining cartilage health. Altered mechanical loading (potentially due to factors such as joint injury and obesity) may contribute to the development of osteoarthritis. However, there are currently limited tools available to quantify the local in vivo mechanical environment of cartilage in humans.
