Dr. Ravi Pendse, Vice President for Computing and Information Services, Brown University. The Internet can be visualized as Internet of information, Internet of people, Internet of places, and most importantly the Internet of things. Internet of Everything (IOE) includes all four of these paradigms and explores opportunities at the intersections. Phrases and words such as “globally connected world,” “hyper connected world,” “next generation transport system,” are being mentioned with great deal of regularity. According to the Gartner and other sources, more than 50% of the 15 billion connected devices are “things.” In this presentation, we will review the paradigm of Internet of Everything and discuss its impact on aviation or airborne networks. As next generation air transportation system (NGATS) is rolled out, it provides opportunities to enhance safety and security of airplane data networks. Our experimental results show great potential for leveraging new technologies to enhance airborne networks.
