Engineering Seminar: Joint Materials/Solid Mechanics

Monday, November 27, 2017 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Damiano Pasini, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, McGill University, will present a talk: "Mechanics and Thermal Expansion of Lattice Materials." Abstract: This seminar will appeal to those interested in the mechanics of periodic materials, in particular lattices. Three questions I will address on their mechanical and functional response: •How to predict their elastic and failure response when their geometry is either ideal or imperfect? •How to planarly tune their thermal expansion without sacrificing structural efficiency?
