Brown Univ. Teams Have Won Past Five Years

Three Brown Teams Named Finalists in 2014 Rhode Island Business Plan Competition

Seven finalists have been named in the 2014 Rhode Island Business Plan Competition, and will share more than $200,000 in prizes when winners are announced next week. All three of the student track finalists, Dual Server Cooling, MedSynergies, and Pronto Solutions are teams from Brown University, including two teams from the School of Engineering’s master’s Program in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (PRIME).

Mary Lou Jepsen to Receive Honorary Degree

At its 246th Commencement Sunday, May 25, 2014, Brown University will confer honorary doctorates on nine distinguished alumni. Included among the recipients is engineering alumna and innovator Mary Lou Jepsen '87, Ph.D. '97, who will receive a Doctor of Science (Sc.D.). Jepsen will also present a Commencement Forum on Saturday, May, 24.

Brown IEEE Hosts Third Annual Robotics Olympiad

On Saturday, April 12 the Brown University chapter of IEEE hosted the third annual Brown Robotics Olympiad (BRO) at Barus and Holley. The BRO is an intercollegiate, micro-mouse style robotics competition. Students form teams of 3-8 people and, over the course of an academic year, design and construct a robot able to autonomously navigate and solve a 16-by-16 square maze. This year, four Brown teams competed against eight teams from six other schools, including Harvard, Princeton and Yale in the full-day competition.

Brown engineering team wins two awards at CANSTRUCTION competition

Bruno Takes a Selfie:

Eight Brown University engineering student used approximately 2500 cans to build a Brown Bear taking a selfie and won two awards. It was all part of the CANSTRUCTION competition organized by the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and held at the Structures Congress in Boston on April 3-5. This is a competition where students have to create a structure using canned food.
