Kelly da Ponte Receives Dean’s Service Award

August 21, 2018

Kelly da Ponte, Grants and Contracts Specialist in the Brown University School of Engineering Research Administration group, has received the sixth annual Dean’s Service Award. The award, established during the 2012-13 academic year, was created to recognize a non-managing employee who has made a specific contribution or provided outstanding service in the School of Engineering.

The award is an opportunity to recognize the performance of an individual who has been a positive instrument of change; made significant contributions; and who has provided outstanding service to both internal and external constituents.

During the past fiscal year, the research office submitted 163 proposals, received 97 new sponsored project awards and managed a portfolio of more than 200 sponsored awards. With multiple staff vacancies, the majority of these proposals were submitted and managed by da Ponte. Additionally, during the past year, she developed a better method of organizing award data internally for both the office and faculty.

da Ponte has been praised for her efficiency, endless patience and customer service from both staff and faculty. She was presented with the award from Engineering Dean Larry Larson at the School of Engineering’s annual summer cookout.
