Nonfiction Writing as Thinking and Practice

Emily Hipchen is Professor at the University of West Georgia. She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Georgia in 1996. Emily writes memoir and several other nonfictional forms, and she is the current president of the MLA GS Forum on Life Writing. Her books include Coming Apart Together: Fragments from an Adoption (Literate Chigger 2005) as well as two co-edited collections, The Routledge Auto/Biography Studies Reader (Routledge, 2015) and Inhabiting La Patria: Identity, Agency, and Antojo in the Work of Julia Alvarez (State U of New York Press, 2013).
