Students make use of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) when they are experiencing significant difficulty coping, are faced with making difficult decisions, or managing other emotional or psychological problems. The department offers short-term individual counseling, crisis consultation, and medication management as appropriate. Services are short term and are not meant to replace long-term care; for long-term care the Care Coordinator can provide direct referrals, or a Psychological Services Psychotherapist can meet with a student for brief intervention and then provide referrals to a Providence-area therapist. Records are confidential. There is no charge for any of these services.

To make a routine or urgent appointment during regular business hours, call 401-863-3476 or stop by the office at J Walter Wilson, Room 516. For those graduate students who can not make it to CAPS during regular business hours, they can request a Saturday appointment by calling that same telephone number, but the meeting will be at Health Services, 13 Brown Street. Outside of regular business hours, the clinician on call can be reached by calling 401-863-3476.
