Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) takes a goal-focused and collaborative approach to mental health services to assist students in improving their lives. Our diverse staff offers a range of psychological treatment and prevention services in an inclusive, compassionate, affirming and socially just environment. Offerings include individual counseling, medication management, skills workshops, referral services, mental health assessments, trainings and consultation for faculty and staff, crisis stabilization, after hours assessment and urgent care, outreach programming and group meetings. CAPS is available 24/7 for urgent needs.

Scheduling CAPS prides itself on being highly accessible for students. The first step is to schedule an initial meeting through whichever of the following methods is best for you:

  • Call CAPS for immediate support at 401-863-3476 and follow the prompts for assistance.


CAPS is open to all Brown students on weekdays between 8:30 am to 5 pm. CAPS offers additional hours specifically for graduate students on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
