Graduate Student Unionization Incident Report

October 1, 2018

Dear Graduate Students,

With the new academic year underway, I write to share an additional resource related to graduate student unionization. The University has developed a form for graduate students to use to report any incidents of a University or union representative acting counter to the expectations outlined in the June 21, 2018 University-Union Pre-election Agreement. The Incident Report Form is available on the Be Informed website, along with other information regarding graduate student unionization at Brown. All reports that are submitted will be reviewed by the Union-Management Committee, which was established in the Pre-election Agreement and includes representatives from SUGSE/AFT and the University administration. The form provides the option of confidentiality.

The University is committed to providing an environment in which graduate students can decide for themselves whether or not unionization is in their best interest. The purpose of this form is to provide students with a direct way to provide information about any concerns they may have, and to promote an environment that supports the free exchange of ideas without fear of intimidation or harassment.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or feel free to attend one of my mobile office hours across campus this fall.
