Moving to Providence

Providence is large enough to offer a great variety of activities, educational opportunities, and entertainment venues, yet small enough to easily navigate all its offerings.

Providence is recognized as a culinary center and is home to an outstanding zoo, a children's museum, excellent arts and culture venues, Broadway shows and a convenient train station. Boston is less than one hour away by car. The TF Green Airport is only 20 minutes to the south.

Parking

As is the case in many cities, there is no overnight on-street parking in Providence. Parking spaces can often be rented on a monthly basis from owners of private parking lots.

Transportation

The state transportation system, RIPTA, is free to all students and employees using a Brown ID. Buses run frequently and there are several bus routes that will take you from Kennedy Plaza up to College Hill to the Tunnel stop on Thayer Street and to other locations around campus and the state.
The MBTA runs commuter rail service to Boston.
