The Graduate School awarded 232 doctoral and 479 master's degrees today on the newly named Ruth Simmons Quadrangle. The full Commencement program, including the names of all degree recipients, is available online. Highlights of the program included student speaker, Chris Geggie on “Nothing Without Great Labor.” Geggie received his Master of Arts in Classics.
Chao-Han Liu, PhD '65 was also awarded the Horace Mann Medal at today's ceremony. Four PhD students, Christian G. DuComb, Theatre and Performance Studies, Breann Brown, Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology, Sirui Tan, Applied Mathematics, and Hussein Banai, Political Science, were all awarded the Joukowsky Family Foundation Outstanding Dissertation Award. Dr. Gail Cohee recieved the Wilson-DeBlois Award, which is given annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to graduate students and the Graduate School.
