Julio Crivelli lecture

"Argentina contemporanea: vanguardia artistica y crisis politica"
Friday, February 5, 2015
Lecture: 5:30
Rochambeau House, Music Room

Dr. Julio Crivelli will discuss, in Spanish, the historical process of Argentina from the perspective of  contemporary painting. He will argue that  between the evolution of the arts and the transformations of democracy in modern Argentina, are strong links--the seach and lost of utopias and social dreams. For this, he will depart from his personal collection of Argentinean painting from the 60s to the present, including works by Antonio Berni, Jorge de la Vega, Rómulo Macció, Guillermo Kuitca and Liliana Maresca.

Dr. Crivelli is a Lawyer. He is the author of a number of books and articles within his field. He is a counsel to the Buenos Aires City Stock Exchange, President to the Buenos Aires City Construction Chamber, and Professor at the State School of Lawyers and at the Austral University. Author of La Huída, book of poems, and the short movie of the same title produced by MALBA (Buenos Aires Latin American Art Museum), he is also a well-known art collector, and the President to the Patronage for the National Museum of Fine Arts, the main art museum of his country.
