Research Interests: Native American and Indigenous Studies, Northeastern Indigenous History, Federal Indian Policy, Federal Acknowledgment Policy

I received my undergraduate degree in Native American Studies from Dartmouth College where I wrote a thesis on nineteenth-century tribal terminations and the inconsistent applications of federal acknowledgment policies in northeastern tribal petitions.  I received an MSt in U.S. History from the University of Oxford and intend to expand my master’s research while at Brown, analyzing the role that Christianity and tribal churches have played in some New England tribal petitions for federal acknowledgment.  My primary research interests are in nineteenth and twentieth-century New England Indigenous History and the impact of federal Indian policies in the region.
