Sam Coren is a public scholar currently pursuing a PhD in American Studies, whose research interests include the U.S. built environment, urban ecology and infrastructure; and feminist science and technology studies. They have exhibited as a research-based artist at sites in Providence and upstate New York, exploring humans’ relationships to urban rivers and other distressed landscapes (some of these projects are documented at samuelcoren.com). Sam’s dissertation research focuses on human and multi-species societies along the margins of interstate highways, and highlights the role of community participation in infrastructure planning.
