Environmental Chemicals and Children's Health

Joseph Braun

Many chemicals in the environment are thought to cause health problems in children, due in part to their underdeveloped capacity to detoxify harmful substances. Public health researchers are conducting the HOME study, a long-term follow-up of hundreds of pregnant women and their growing kids, in order to determine which environmental compounds are most detrimental to development—both in utero and through adolescence.
