Stillwell Book Prize Event

April 15, 2013 - 5:30pm

The John Carter Brown Library, The Charles H. Watts II History and Culture of the Book Program, and the John Russell Bartlett Society will co-host the Margaret Stillwell Prize Competition and Award event.  This event will be held in the MacMillan Reading Room at the John Carter Brown Library.

Lucas Mason-Brown will discuss his efforts to decrypt the mysterious marginal annotations made by Roger Williams in a copy of one of his books. Lucas's talk is entitled, "Roger William's Lost Treatise: Learning and using shorthand to reveal a 17th century mystery".  The resulting discoveries have been covered by the Boston Globe and Slate, among other media venues.

This event is free and open to the public. For event details and a full schedule of events,  please visit the Watts Program blog.
