Sourcing Special Collections: How to Use Rare Materials in Illustration

5:30-6:30pm in the MacMillan Reading Room

Learn from Lillian Melcher — illustrator and creator with Andrea Wulf of the graphic non-fiction work, The Adventures of Alexander Von Humboldt — how research in special collections can inspire illustration. Through a Q&A moderated by Susan Doyle, Chair of RISD’s Illustration Department, and a show and tell of JCB materials, students are invited to ask how rare and historic materials can produce new narratives.

The reading room will close to researchers at 4:00pm.
