Help the JCB Digitize its Collection
The R. David Parsons Fund for Digital Exploration is named for the late David Parsons, a former member of the JCB’s Board of Governors who was a passionate collector of books and maps related to the early European exploration of the Americas. Parsons believed deeply in the power of digital technologies to provide unfettered access to the Library’s collection, the world over. He was also committed to the Library’s long-term research fellows program, which he supported generously with an endowed fellowship in his name.

The Parsons Fund for Digital Exploration was inaugurated in 2018 with a generous grant from Parsons’ widow, Mary, in honor of the friendship between her late husband and the recently deceased Americana dealer William E. Reese. The fund was inspired by the kindness and generosity of these two individuals and is dedicated to the idea that historic treasures like those held at the JCB should be studied and enjoyed regardless of the viewers’ distance from the source.
