Joyce Chaplin, James Duncan Phillips Professor of Early American History at Harvard University, presented "The World is Not Enough: Brown circa 1764 (and circa 2014)." Introductory remarks were provided by Christina Paxson, President of Brown University; Neil Safier, Director and Librarian of the John Carter Brown Library; and Linford Fisher, Associate Professor in the Department of History at Brown University.  This was the first of seven lectures in the series, "1764: Brown's Founding in a Global Context," presented by the Department of History and the John Carter Brown Library in celebration of Brown University's 250th Anniversary.
