IWP Fellows

The International Writers Project is currently seeking applications and nominations for the 2017-2018 International Writers Project Fellowship. Writers interested in applying for the fellowship should send a case history, providing publishing history and explaining need, a writing sample (preferably in English), and a résumé, to the International Writers Project, Department of Literary Arts, Box 1923, Brown University, Providence RI 02912, or they send materials by electronic mail to iwp@brown.edu. Letters of support from persons acquainted with the candidate's situation and eligibility are helpful. Anyone wishing to make the IWP aware of a writer in need, or wishing to nominate a candidate, sould also contact the program as noted above.

The 2015-16 International Writers Project Fellow was Ethiopian poet, novelist, and essayist Bewketu Seyoum.  Albanian fiction writer and poet Gazmend Kapllani was IWP Visiting Scholar for 2015-16.

Previous recipients of the Fellowship are fiction writer and blogger Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo of Cuba,  playwright George Seremba of Zimbabwe, novelist Dul Johnson from Nigeria,  Kho Tararith from Cambodia,  Burmese novelist Thida, Zimbabwean novelist Chenjerai Hove,  Iranian novelists Shahrnush ParsipurShahryar Mandanipour, and Moniro Ravanipour,  Congolese playwright Pierre Mumbere Mujomba, Iranian poet  Pegah Ahmadi, and novelist Nihad Sirees of Syria.
