Daniel Alarcón is Associate Editor of Etiqueta Negra, an award-winning monthly magazine published in his native Lima, Peru, and Visiting Scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies at UC Berkeley. He is author of three works of fiction, including Lost City Radio (winner of the PEN USA Novel Award for 2008), and, most recently, The King is Always Above the People, a story collection published in Mexico and Peru. His short fiction and journalism have appeared in The New Yorker, Harper’s, Virginia Quarterly Review, and elsewhere. He teaches writing at California College of Art.
