Division of Women's Health in Emergency Care launches public advocacy campaign

October 2, 2013

The division of Women’s Health in Emergency Care (WHEC) has launched a public advocacy campaign to educate patients in the ED on the importance their sex and gender affects their health through a series of posters and flyers.  According to division director Dr. Alyson McGregor, “The impact that sex and gender can have on patient outcomes in the ED is significant and this concept is embraced by the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine.  It is important to begin incorporating this gender lens into our research, education and medical practice.”   WHEC aims to advance and promote sex and gender-specific research and medical care as they relate to medical emergencies and is active in educating practicing physicians, residents, and students.
