December 2018

Natasha Gill, MD presents research that suggests childhood obesity linked to poor school performance and coping skills.  

The study abstract, “Childhood Flourishing is Negatively Associated with Obesity,” was presented on Saturday, November 3, 2018 during the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2018 National Conference & Exhibition.

  

Congratulations to PEM Attending, Dr. Lauren Allister on her appointment as Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship.

Message from the Vice Chair, Dr. William Lewander: 

I am very pleased to announce that Drs. Meghan BeucherAlicia Genisca and Stephanie Ruest have accepted positions in the Department of Emergency Medicine/Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Please join me in welcoming them and our incoming Fellows to the Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Department of Emergency Medicine.

 

Meghan Beucher, MD - Assistant Professor EM, Clinician Educator 

Dr. Beucher received her medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Alpert Medical School, Brown University/ Hasbro Children’s Hospital program. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric EM at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. Dr. Beucher will work in the Hasbro Children’s Hospital mergency Department (HCHED).

 

 

Alicia Genisca, MD – Assistant Professor of EM, Clinician Educator

Dr. Genisca graduated from Weill-Cornell Medical College in NY. She completed her Pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and completed her Pediatric EM fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Dr. Genisca will be a Global EM educator and investigator. Her interests include point of care ultrasoundand medical imulation. She will be an attending physician in the HCHED.

 

Stephanie Ruest, MD, MPH – Assistant Professor of EM 

Dr. Ruest received her MD from University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester. She completed her Pediatric residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children and served as Pediatric Chief Resident. Dr. Ruest completed her Pediatric EM Fellowship here at Brown/HCH. She completed her MPH at the Brown University School of Public Health. Dr. Ruest will be an attending in the HCHED. She will continue to be a researcher and clinical educator.

 

 


New Emergency Medicine Fellows 2018 

Sakina Sojar, MD – PEM Fellow

Dr. Sojar graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. She completed her Pediatric residency at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Dr. Sojar will work clinically at HCHED.

 

 

Hoi See Tsao, MD – PEM Fellow

Dr. Tsao received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her Pediatric residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. Dr. Tsao will work clinical at the HCHED.
