Information for Preceptors

Dear Preceptors,

Welcome to the Department of Family Medicine’s Medical Student Education Website.  This section of the website is specifically for you.  It contains information on:

  • The “nuts and bolts” of the clerkship (expectations for the students; when to fill out evaluations, etc).
  • Resources for precepting – both from the medical literature and from our own experiences we hope you will find helpful.
  • Links on benefits of being a Brown University faculty member including access to the Brown library, the Brown gym and functions at Brown exclusively for Brown community members.
  • Links to resources we think will be valuable as well as access to the fmCASES, a national online curriculum we use in the clerkship that may be useful for you as well in your practice.

We hope you enjoy the website.  As always, we are so very grateful for all your hard work in teaching our medical students.  If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

Please take a moment to view a short YouTube video which explains a little more about the expectations for you and our students.

Best wishes,

David Anthony MD, MSc
Director of Medical Student Education

Andrea Arena, MD
Assistant Director of Medical Student Education

Lori Avallone
Clerkship Coordinator
