NAME: Kaitlyn M. Egger, DO

HOMETOWN: Bayshore, NY

MEDICAL SCHOOL: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

WHY KENT HOSPITAL: I chose Kent Hospital because of the family mentality displayed by the residents and faculty I encountered at my interview. Throughout the interview process, faculty were more interested in my personal opinions and feeling rathers than my professional accomplishments. I knew from my interview experience that I would not be treated as just another resident at Kent Hospital, but as a member of a large, caring family.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: My hobbies include dancing, baking, biking, reading and spending time with family and friends.

NAME: Kirit S. Gill, DO

WHY KENT HOSPITAL: I chose Kent Hospital because of the emphasis the hospital places on resident education and resident wellness, paired with a well-rounded patient population. When I interview at Kent, I immediately was drawn to the camaraderie shared between residents and attendings, and I liked the family feel of the program. I loved how supportive everyone was with one another. I knew that if I trained at Kent Hospital I would not only receive amazing training, but also I would be able to become the physician I aspire to be.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: My hobbies and interests include watching and playing a variety of sports, trying new restaurants and breweries, and traveling. I am moving to the Northeast with my significant other and we are both very excited to explore and see everything the area has to offer.

NAME: Matthew R. Hall, DO

HOMETOWN: Burrillville, RI

MEDICAL SCHOOL: University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine

WHY KENT HOSPITAL: I did my third year of clinical work at Kent Hospital and I fell in love with the hospital and the internal medicine residency program. The hospital has an excellent mixture of both a community hospital and a teaching hospital. The residents and attending physicians are amazingly supportive and great educators who are like a family. I am greatly looking forward to my future as a physician at the hospital.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Reading books, watching movies, spending time with family and friends, playing hockey, outdoor activities including waterskiing, mountain biking and rock climbing. I am interested in hospital medicine, outpatient care as well as adult medical specialties with a focus on comprehensive holistic care.

NAME: Jacob J. Kantrowitz, MD

MEDICAL SCHOOL: Boston University School of Medicine

WHY KENT HOSPITAL: As an academic community hospital with a close-knit residency program, Kent is exactly the kind of environment I imangined working in. The size of the program means the residents support each other and there is a clear sense of community, which is critical for a happy and healthy housestaff. The association with Brown gives us access to cutting edge research faculty and facilities and my interests in clinical informatics are well matched to the biomedical informatics department. Born and raised in Massachusetts, I also could not be happier training in New England.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: Clinically, I am excited to eventually practice as a primary care physician. Academically, I am interested in leveraging machine learning techniques in combination with electronic medical record databases to build tools geared towards improving the lives of physicians. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and kids. I have also been learning to bake bread, and I enjoy yoga, squash, and meditation.

NAME: Jae H. Kim, DO

HOMETOWN: Rochester Hills, MI

MEDICAL SCHOOL: Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

WHY KENT HOSPITAL: During application season, my girlfriend Googled "cool cities to live in". Providence came up on top because it has one of the most restaurants per capita, a rich history, and all the East Coast vibes without the price. It was late in the season, but I emailed the program, got an interview, and turned my interview day into a mini-vacation. The residents took me and my cohorts out to eat Indidan food. To be honest, that sealed the deal. They then impressed me with their didactics, program strength, and the family-like community. I ate oysters, a lobster roll, Peruvian food, Italian food, and Korean food. Yeah, I'm happy to be here.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: I began cooking when I learned about the Maillard reaction from an organic chemistry textbook - the reaction responsible for searing steak and toasting bread. I play volleyball on a regular basis, and my temamates would say I'm scrappy rather than refined. In an alternate universe, I would have become a high school science teacher who coached volleyball since I'm not tall enough to go pro. During my mid-life crisis, I would grow out a beard, quit teaching, and pursue my passion for cooking and become a chef. After buying a Tesla of course.
