Residency Curriculum

In addition to rotations, orthopaedic residents learn by attending conferences and lectures, and through targeted opportunities, such as workshops in bioskills.

Trauma conference

During this daily morning conference, admissions and consults from the previous 24 hours are reviewed and discussed. 

 

 

Bioskills course

Introduction to common orthopaedic splint and cast applications for the junior residents. Saw-bones labs for intramedullary nails and ex-fix placement in the upper and lower extremities.

 

OITE review

Weekly educational conference designed to prepare for the annual Orthopaedic In-Training Examination.

Faculty lectures

Biweekly (Monday/Friday) education conference held from September to June.

Pathology lectures

Monthly Pathology lectures held by Dr. Terek to review Orthopaedic Oncology. 

Microsurgery lab

While on hand, bi-monthly time in the micro lab with Dr. Katarincic where you will practice vascular repairs on a rat.

Grand Rounds

Held weekly where a variety of prominent speakers from all aspects of Orthopaedics.

Anatomy sessions

Weekly Anatomy dissections and review held from December-January

Simulator

We have a knee and shoulder arthroscopy simulator in the resident room for use at any time.

Journal club

Monthly conference during which attendings and residents discuss a number of important scientific journal articles.
