Division of Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery has a diverse faculty, with specialized training and clinical/research interests in craniofacial, cosmetic, hand, microsurgery, wound healing, and general reconstruction.
Residents are encouraged to pursue research interests of their own, along with participating in projects lead by faculty. The divisions of craniofacial, hand and aesthetic surgery have been particularly productive with resident work in the last several years. With the addition of Dr. Liu as chairman, there are many new opportunities for basic science research as well. His NIH-funded lab has developed AAV-vectors for angiogenic genes in flaps and wounds, and more recently, he has assembled an international team of mathematicians and wound healing researchers to model the healing of diabetic wounds.
