The Division Receives a Brown University DEANS Award!

July 14, 2014

The Brown Biomed Division DEANS Award grant application submitted by Jorge Albina, MD and Amanda Jamieson, PhD (Molecular, Microbiology and Immunology), Post‐Surgical Pneumonia & Development of Wound Repair Macrophages, was approved for funding July 1st!

Their project was one of 20 selected from a very competitive pool of applications in this inaugural year of the DEANS Awards.

Earlier this year, the Brown University Division of Biology and Medicine and the Alpert Medical School announced a new grant award program for Brown University faculty members.  The purpose of the Dean's Emerging Areas of New Science (DEANS) Awards is to foster scientific discovery through partnerships between Brown basic science faculty in the Division of Biology and Medicine and Alpert Medical School clinical faculty members.

The intent is for the translational nature of these awards to lead to advances in pathogenesis and ultimately medical care and that the partnership from the grant support will successfully lead to future extramural funding.  The $80,000 award is for one year with the potential for a one year competitive renewal.
