Welcome to Brown Anesthesiology. . .

At our institution, we offer a world-class education to meet the evolving needs of our patients.  We actively seek out future leaders in the field, and pride ourselves on developing physicians that can rise to the challenges of tomorrow.  At Brown we prioritize compassion, intellectual curiosity, and a supportive learning environment.  We value diversity in all its forms, and pride ourselves on recruiting and maintaining an eclectic team.

Our department provides anesthetic care to patients across the state of Rhode Island.  Our level-1 trauma center, and our hospital dedicated to Women’s health are the busiest in the region.  Hasbro Children’s Hospital offers our trainees exposure to pediatric complexities only encountered at the nation’s finest institutions.  Residents at Brown can expect to encounter medical complexities in patients of all ages, and across all demographics.

Augmenting the unparalleled clinical experience is an educational program that embraces adult learning.  Protected teaching time often employs a flipped classroom or integrated curriculum that emphasizes interaction, collaboration, and creativity.  Simulation, Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and hands-on workshops are staples of the didactic series.  Textbooks, question banks, review courses and many other educational expenses are sponsored by the department.

Outside of work, Providence and the entirety of Rhode Island offer the perfect home for a resident.  From the capitol city’s innumerable cultural and culinary opportunities to the state’s many wonderful beaches and outdoor activities, you will quickly fall in love with all that the Ocean State has to offer.  Brown emphasizes a healthy work/life balance – our residents are able to enjoy everything that makes Rhode Island a wonderful place to live.
