BIOL 6519: Teamwork in the Health Professions

Student Leaders:
Austin Tam, MD19
Faculty Adviser:
Dr. Joseph Rabatin

Interprofessional education is becoming more important as health care becomes increasingly complex; however, formal education in working in teams is often lacking.  This elective, jointly run with the College of Pharmacy and the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Rhode Island, the Schools of Social Work and Nursing at Rhode Island College and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, will give students a foundation for working in health professional teams.  The didactic, simulation, and learning activities of the curriculum include interprofessional education directed towards the development of interprofessional competencies including, but not limited to, values/ethics, communication, professional roles and responsibilities, and teamwork.
