The 2nd Annual Rhode Island Hospital and Warren AlpertMedical School of Brown University Wound Care Symposiumprovides world class keynote speakers on hot topics suchas biofilms, stem cells in wounds, and updates on the latesttechnologies. It is part of a grass roots movement by the WoundHealing Society and Brown University to improve care ofpatients with difficult to heal wounds.
The conference is designed for the interdisciplinary team ofPhysicians, Podiatrists, Nurses, Researchers involved in woundhealing or wound care issues.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Employ an interdisciplinary approach to wound prevention, treatment, and limb salvage.
- Describe the comprehensive management of patients with venous, arterial, and diabetic wounds.
- Provide optimal healthcare delivery through improved understanding and the use of novel wound care technologies that allows for better outcomes.
- Describe various factors that inhibit wound healing including medical co-morbidities, commonly used drugs and devices, and other challenges.
- Assess existing evidence-based criteria for efficacy of commonly used wound care treatments including negative pressure wound therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for ContinuingMedical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital. The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Physicians: The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses: This activity has been submitted to Northeast MultiState Division (NE-MSD) for approval to award nursing contact hours. Northeast Multistate Division (NE-MSD) is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners: Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance stating this program is designated for 5.0 hours AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This credit is accepted by the AAPA and AANP.
Podiatrists: This activity has been submitted to the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, which is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. Credit approval is pending.
