Certificate in Medical Science
PLEASE NOTE: This certificate program is being phased out due to the overwhelming popularity of the Master's program. If you strongly prefer this program over the Master's program, please feel free to apply and/or contact [email protected] for any questions.
This one-year, non-degree certificate program, based at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, is designed to strengthen your credentials for acceptance into medical school or other health professionals training programs by enhancing your medical science knowledge and demonstrating your ability to succeed in a rigorous medical school curriculum.
The program consists of six of the same basic biomedical science and organ system courses taken by first-year Alpert medical students. You’ll benefit from:
- Small class sizes that allow for individualized attention as you progress through the curriculum
- A robust academic advising and coaching system to help you navigate your career path in health care
After completing your certificate, you may decide to apply directly to medical school or pursue a second year of study, at Brown or another school, to explore other health career opportunities while completing a master’s degree or obtaining advanced training in another health-related discipline.
"The small class size is ideal, and the professors and support system are invaluable."
Students who choose to complete a second year of study may be able to count certificate program coursework toward a degree (depending on the evaluation by the degree program).
