Ceremony of Commitment to Medicine

The highlight of Family Weekend is the Ceremony of Commitment to Medicine, which marks a student's transition from classroom to clinical study. The white coat ceremony is sponsored by the Brown Medical Alumni Association.

The Nineteenth Annual Ceremony of Commitment to Medicine: 

In this celebratory event, each first-year medical student will be presented with a white coat provided by the Brown Medical Alumni Association symbolizing their commitment to the world of medicine. Join families, faculty, and administration of the Medical School for this very special presentation.
First Unitarian Church, One Benevolent Street

The doors to the church will open at 3:30 p.m. for families and friends. There is no limit to the number of guests for each student, but please note - church pews fit approximately five adults comfortably.  Larger groups may not be able to sit together in one row.

Medical Community Reception

Congratulate the MD Class of 2021 and celebrate Family Weekend with the Medical School community. Round-trip shuttle transportation will be available between the First Unitarian Church and 222 Richmond Street until 7:00 PM.

Parking will be difficult near the church. Be certain to allow yourself enough time to find parking. Shuttle transportation will be available between the First Unitarian Church and 222 Richmond Street.
