Originally from rural New Hampshire, Katie attended Stonehill College in Easton, MA. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Biology. She then attended SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY where took a strong interest in community health and became the Chief Senior Volunteer of the Brooklyn Free Clinic, which offered medical care to Brooklyn residents with no insurance. She also further developed her love of teaching through anatomy tutoring, being a peer-mentor for junior students, and lecturing on staple diseases that are commonly seen in the Brooklyn community to junior volunteers at the Brooklyn Free Clinic. She was the recipient of the Alumni Summer Research Fellowship Grant and published a paper titled "Laryngospasm, central, and obstructive apnea during seizures: Defining essential pathophysiology for sudden death in a rat model". Outside of medicine, Katie was published in Brooklyn Stories, her school’s anthology of short stories, photography, and poetry. She loved New York City, but is glad to be back in New England! She is an avid musician, baker, and cat-mom to two adorable cats.
