Procedures and timetables for completion of the AMCAS application by PLME Class of 2017, PLME students on leave, and EIP seniors who expect to matriculate into the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in August 2017
- Before you start the application, print a copy of your "internal academic record" from the Banner website at http://selfservice.brown.edu. You will need this document to complete the "Coursework" section of the AMCAS application.
- The Registrar will not release your official Brown transcript if there is an outstanding balance on your account. Please resolve all account problems before submitting the request for transcript form. If you are planning to study abroad or travel during the spring semester of your senior year and email access is unknown, please designate a family member to receive communications from Brown Med Admissions or the PLME Office. Please provide the name and email address of your proxy (e.g., parent) before leaving the United States.

Procedures for You to Follow Beginning in June, 2016 | |
I. June through September 15, 2016 |
Visit the AMCAS page at https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/amcas/ and click on "Instruction Manual" and also set a link to "Frequently Asked Questions." |
To register with the AAMC, go to The AMCAS Welcome Page and click on “2017 AMCAS Sign In.” Once you are on the sign-in page, look below the username and password fields and click on “Register here.” At this point you will be asked to establish a user name and password for your AMCAS account. AMCAS no longer requires you to enter your social security number (SSN) or social insurance number (SIN) during registration. The AAMC registration process is the same for all applicants including international students. It is not necessary to call the AAMC for a Proxy ID number if you choose not to enter an SSN or SIN number. You may bypass the SSN/SIN fields on the registration page and continue on to “Section One: Identifying Information” to obtain your AAMC ID.

Complete the "Identifying Information" section in order to receive an AAMC ID. In the "Identifying Information" section, please list your Brown Banner ID number under "Other." EIP students should list the student ID number that appears on your school's official transcripts. |

Email your AAMC ID to Filomena Zani at the Alpert Medical School Office of Admissions ([email protected]). If you do not provide your AAMC ID to Filomena by September 15, you will be unable to complete Section #7 in October as a Brown/PLME and you could be charged the full AMCAS fee of $160! |

II. June through November 15, 2016 Work on all Sections EXCEPT for section 7 "Medical Schools" In Section "Schools Attended" please take note of these requirements: |
You must list all schools at which you have taken summer courses or additional courses (for credit and not-for-credit). You can to print "Transcript Request Forms" for each school. This form must be signed and mailed to the Registrar at each school because it accompanies your transcript to AAMC. At some schools including Brown, it is possible to order a transcript online. Print out the AMCAS letter in order to get the correct mailing address information to provide to the Registrar. If possible, provide your AMCAS number and request a reference to it be included with the transcript. The Brown electronic transcript is delivered almost immediately--however, there is no Brown fee waiver for electronic delivery. NOTE: Brown courses should appear on your application with four (4) semester hours per course. |

Personal Statements. The Personal Comments essay serves as an updated description of your personal motivation for medicine. Activities. Be sure to list all activities you have taken part in during your time at Brown including interest groups, research, etc. |

Letters of Evaluation are not required for PLME students. |

III. October 1 - November 15, 2016 |
Complete Section #7: Medical Schools after October 1, 2016 If you have previously provided your AAMC ID to Filomena Zani, you can now complete Section #7 "Medical Schools." If you have not provided your AAMC ID to Filomena, you will not be able to check the correct "Program Type" in this section.
