Wang Lu Awarded Berlin Prize

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Music Wang Lu, who was just named a Spring 2019 Berlin Prize Fellow.

The highly coveted Berlin Prize is awarded annually to scholars, writers, composers, and artists from the United States who represent the highest standards of excellence in their fields. Fellows receive a monthly stipend, partial board, and accommodations at the Academy’s lakeside Hans Arnhold Center in Berlin-Wannsee.

Brown Music Alum Vinay Parameswaran the New Asst. Conductor at Cleveland Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra has a new assistant conductor. On Monday, the orchestra announced the appointment of Vinay Parameswaran. Parameswaran officially takes up the two-year post in August, with the commencement of the 2017-18 season of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, of which he will be music director.

A 360-degree Sneak Peek at Brown Chorus' St. Matthew Passion Rehearsal

Music Director Fred Jodry and the Brown University Chorus perform Bach's St. Matthew Passion next week, April 7, at Grace Church in Providence. The Chorus will be joined by orchestra, vocal soloists, and boys choirs for the monumental work. A short 360-degree video captures Jodry leading an a cappella rehearsal with the Brown Chorus. This year, Monty Alexander & The Harlem-Kingston Express headline the concert for the series' 30th Anniversary event. This milestone is an opportunity to reflect on the success of the Brudner Memorial Concerts.
