He began teaching himself the piano in the practice rooms at Brown and eventually got comfortable enough to co-produce an EP: Spotify Link. He is double-concentrating in Computer Science and Music and is co-president and the lead vocalist of Mariachi de Brown. William HawkinsWilliam HawkinsWilliam Hawkins (b. 1997) is a composer and violist.  Hawkins has had works performed by chamber groups including the American Modern Ensemble, Mivos Quartet, the Momenta Quartet, the Neave Trio, the Walden School Players, and violinist Nigel Armstrong.  His work has also been presented at the Mostly Modern Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, the Walden Creative Musician’s Retreat, the Eastern Division Festival’s Young Composer’s Event, and the NEC contemporary music festival.

He is a founding member of Pansophy Education Institute (Vancouver, Canada), a teaching and education & immigration consulting practice. Warner MeadowsWarner MeadowsWarner Meadows ’19 is a pianist, composer, producer, rapper and singer from Harlem, New York. He cites American jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk as a guiding spirit, also invoking artists like Frank Ocean and Kanye West as some of his most notable influences. Some of his proudest accomplishments during his time at Brown have been a placement in Huffington Post’s "Black Voices" for his freshman year music video “Whatyousee,” accumulating upwards of 1.7 million streams on Spotify for his first single “Yuca,” and opening for opening for Rnb/Hip Hop acts including Phony Ppl, Cautious Clay, Malcolm London and Cool Company. Some of his long-term goals are expanding the representations of masculinity in hip hop, scoring a movie, composing a jazz album and using his platform to aid in humanitarian crises.

Reid MerzbacherReid MerzbacherReid Merzbacher is a composer, violinist, and jazz pianist from Cambridge, Massachusetts. He currently studies with Eric Nathan at Brown University, where he is pursuing degrees in music composition and computer science. Reid has written for a variety of ensembles and has had pieces performed by Imani Winds, Ensemble Dal Niente, the Momenta Quartet, Chartreuse, and Tracy Silverman, as well as readings by Sō Percussion and the Brown University Orchestra. In past summers he has attended the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Mostly Modern Festival, the European American Musical Alliance, and the International Music Academy in Cremona, Italy.

India ThieriotIndia ThieriotIndia Thieriot ‘21 is a singer-songwriter from San Francisco. On campus, she is a member of the Chattertocks a cappella group and loves composing on the piano and guitar in her free time. Last summer, she spent time at The Village Studios in Los Angeles recording original songs and hopes to continue writing and recording in the upcoming year. Her goal is to release a full album before graduating from Brown, as well as to gain more live performance experience.

Shayna TohShayna TohShayna Toh '20, a Music and International Relations concentrator, is an author, composer, lyricist and singer-songwriter. Her first musical, Firefly in the Light, a 22-song pop rock musical, was an Official Selection of the 2017 New York Musical Festival. She won NMI's 2019 New Voices Project supported by Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment and is currently working on her composition thesis, The Olive Trees. He is a vocal tenor of many styles as well as a classical/collaborative pianist and violinist. Outside of classes, he is an RPL, he is the Chair/Technical Advisor to the Alumnae Hall Advisory Board (AHAB), he is on the Musical Forum production board, and he is the music director of Brown Barsaat a cappella. He also is very active in Brown's theatre community in many capacities.
