Sekar Setaman, the Brown University Javanese Gamelan Ensemble, performs a concert at Grant Recital Hall at 7pm on Saturday, December 11. Admission is free and open to the public. Masks required.

The ensemble is under the direction of I.M. Harjito, the ensemble performs instruments made by the Solonese gongsmith Tentrem Sawwanto in 1997-98 especially for Brown. Sekar Setaman, which means “a garden of flowers,” can be symbolically interpreted to mean the harmonious coexistence of different people and different opinions in tolerance and unity.
