NSP:PAL mentees have invited a mentor to share in their academic journey and, by doing so, have entered into a partnership. As partners in their education, they have a responsibility to be serious about their academic commitments and open and honest with themselves and their mentors.
NSP:PAL is for students pursuing a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) concentration. However, should a student decide after joining NSP:PAL that she is no longer interested in pursuing a STEM degree, she may continue with her mentor.
Mentees should plan to spend 1 hour each week with their mentor and 30 minutes each month with a coordinator. Both meetings are meant to be low-stress, low-key interactions to provide students with the opportunity to share their concerns and update their support network on what is going on in their lives.
If you are interested in becoming a mentee or general member, please comeplete the New Scientist Mentee and General Member Applicaiton. For questions please contact NSP@brown.edu.
