Colloquium: Karen Bennett

September 25th, 2015 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
85 Waterman Street, Room 015

Please join the Philosophy Department for the colloquium lecture "In Defense of the Nonfundamental," presented by Professor Karen Bennett of Cornell University. A reception will follow in the Philosophy Department lounge, 45 Prospect Street.

Abstract:
I argue for two main claims: first, that there in fact are nonfundamental entities, and second, that some of them are among the proper subject matter of metaphysics.  Addressing this last point requires saying something about what metaphysics is or is supposed to be; I'll do this at the end of the talk.
