The Brown University Department of Physics is very honored to welcome Professor Jim Gates as a Visiting Professor. Professor Gates' face may be familiar to some from his frequent appearances on PBS’s Nova series. Gates is a pioneer in the fields of supersymmetry and superstring theory, a recipient of the National Medal of Science, and serves on President Barack Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. While at Brown Professor Gates will collaborate with both theoretical physicists and mathematicians, as well as teach high energy physics to students.
