Can you share about the research you worked on this summer?
I processed Monte Carlo files used in the analysis of the vector-like quark, X5/3, which is an extension of the Standard Model top quark. I am using these files in my ongoing analysis of the events from the X5/3 single leptonic decay channel. The X5/3 is one example of a vector-like quark which comes out of a theory that attempts to address the hierarchy problem. I also learned methods of silicon strip detector quality assurance for the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider.
What was a fun experience you had this summer while in Providence?
I spent a lot of time at the beaches in Newport and going to PVD summer events, like PVDFest!
