The PTP strives to invigorate the study of institutions and ideas that make societies free, prosperous, and fair. We pursue this goal with a simultaneous commitment to intellectual pluralism and ideological diversity. We draw heavily from Michael Polanyi's vision of a "republic of science" (link) wherein the norms and standards of academic excellence emerge from an open-ended and competitive environment of alternative theories, methods, research findings, and interpretations.
In the Fall 2016 semester, the PTP will begin a new series of student-focused programs designed to engage the undergraduate student body of Brown University. Below are the titles and descriptions of the newly revamped PTP student program initiatives.
