Professor of Economics
Justine Hastings joined Brown and the PSTC in 2010. Her research integrates industrial organization and public economics to address important economic and policy questions. She studies consumer behavior and its implications for firm strategy and optimal public policy design.
Hastings has received grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Education, and the National Science Foundation. She is a co-editor of the Journal of Public Economics and serves on the Academic Research Council for the United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and on the Council of Economic Advisors to the Governor of Rhode Island.
