The PSTC frequently hosts Leadership Alliance participants during the summer months, providing undergraduate students from other institutions the opportunity to be mentored by leading scholars in their areas of research interest. Most recently, Desiree Lloyd and Nicolas Lopez were at the Center to be mentored by PSTC faculty, gaining theoretical knowledge and practical research training.
Lloyd, a student in Public Health at DePaul University in Chicago, was mentored by Professor of Sociology Michael White. She worked STATA and used GIS, looking at the association between social grants and health in South Africa.
Lopez, a in Math student with an Economics concentration at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, was mentored by Professor of Economics and Community Health Andrew Foster. He gained skills in STATA using data from India that looks at changes in families, households, and employment from 2006-2016.
