S4 GIS Institute

PSTC, SSRL Computer Lab (Maxcy Hall)

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Institute is an intensive two-week course focused on visualization, management, and analysis of geographic data that allows participants to refine and/or develop spatial/geographic research questions with guidance and critical feedback from Brown University faculty. It will be held from May 20-31, 2019, and it provides participants the opportunity to build and apply spatial analysis skills through lectures, tutorials, invited speakers, and an applied research project.

Those interested in participating should register through the S4 GIS Institute website. Registration opens March 6, 2019, and a rolling selection of participants will begin on April 15, 2019. The registration deadline is April 24, 2019. Questions about the Institute or the application process may be directed to S4 Associate Director, Kevin Mwenda. The GIS Institute is a partnership between PSTC's Spatial Structures in the Social Sciences (S4), the Brown University LibrariesEarthLab, and the Population Studies and Training Center and is open to the entire Brown community free of charge. Spaces are limited, so register early to ensure a spot.
